We need your support! On Sunday, September 18th, The WAVE Foundation is hosting Cycle the WAVE. It is a fully supported, non-competitive, deluxe, all-women’s cycling and walking event. It’s for women of all ages and fitness levels, and seeks to foster camaraderie and increase awareness of relationship violence and sexual assault. Funds raised will help support our new, joint program.
Please join us in Roosevelt High School’s auditorium on Thursday, April 28th from 7-9pm for this important workshop. Learn boundary setting, assertive communication, de-escalation techniques and physical self-defense moves. Hear from survivors, including special guest Jennifer Hopper, whose story was the inspiration for the Fight the Fear Campaign. PLEASE HELP US TO SPREAD THE WORD! Please click the Eventbrite link to get tickets for this FREE event! http://www.eventbrite.com/e/sexual-assault-awareness-evening-for-western-wa-high-school-girls-tickets-21534478204
In the last few months, Fight the Fear has taught workshops at Roosevelt, Nathan Hale, Cleveland, Liberty, Issaquah, Ingraham and Orcas Island High Schools. We also have programs in progress at Aki Kurose, Whitman and Jane Adaams Middle Schools. If you’re interested in bringing self-defense classes to your local school, please contact us; we’d love to work with you!
We’ve made inroads into the University of Washington’s Greek System, where we’ve taught at three UW sororities and have introduced our new men’s program to three fraternities, with two more scheduled in April. If you’re interested in hosting the Fight the Fear Campaign at your fraternity, sorority, or student organization, please contact us.
